Dear Centennial Families,
As many of you are aware, the District has proposed a change to the start and end times of the elementary schools to accommodate the transportation schedule and transport all of our students, K-12, safely to and from school.
Click here for the proposed time schedule.
Because parents have expressed concerns to our administrators and Board of School Directors regarding the proposed changes, we are investigating other possibilities with the assistance of an outside transportation consultant. We had hoped to have the results back by Monday evening, May 7, to be discussed at the Operations Committee; however, we have not yet received the alternate plans. Therefore, the Board will take no action in Committee on Monday, May 7, nor as a full Board on Tuesday, May 8. Recognizing that this is an important issue for you and that many of you need to arrange for childcare, we did not want you to come to the meeting unnecessarily.
If this topic is of interest to you, please plan on attending the Finance Committee on May 21, 2012, at which time the topic will be discussed in greater detail. Alternate solutions will be offered for the Board’s discussion and consideration. Community comment will also be welcomed. Any formal action by the full Board will not take place before May 22, 2012.
I have been meeting with parents who have been providing excellent feedback regarding how the change potentially affects their families. Please do be in touch with any questions or concerns.
Yours truly,
Jenny Cressman
