This year at Willow Dale Elementary promises to be a fun and exciting time.
My name is Mrs. Totans and this is my eleventh year teaching at Willow Dale and my nineth year as the Special Education teacher. I love animals, cooking, crafting, traveling and fishing. I am thrilled to be at Willow Dale!
I graduated from C.W. Post/Long Island University with my Bachelor's degree in Elementary Education and received my Masters Degree in Special Education from Arcadia University. My additional certifications include Applied Behavior Analysis, Middle School Social Studies, Middle School English/Language Arts, English as a Second Language and Anti-bullying.
Room 30 is a warm and inviting classroom. Students are immersed in a literacy rich learning environment that imbeds social skills to address the needs and talents of all students. It is a place to learn, be creative and make friends. Our schedule this year will remain on a 6 day rotation. A specials schedule will be provided by homeroom teachers, but if you are unsure what day it is in the rotation, please go to: www.centennialsd.org, click the drop down box (at the top) to "Select a School," and click on Willow Dale. There, you will find out what day it is in the rotation and about upcoming events. You can also view the district calendar, find breakfast & lunch menus, read the Principal's Newsletter, see what is going on with our Home & School Association, find out how you can volunteer, read E-folder materials and so much more!Schedules by grade, while we are doing virtual learning:Grade: Kindergarten

Please consider volunteering at Willow Dale. You can find links to get your clearances at https://www.centennialsd.org/site/Default.aspx?PageID=6813. I am an active staff member of the Willow Dale Home & School Association and would love to work on making Willow Dale the best possible school for all students along side you! There are volunteer opportunities for people with every type of schedule.Online resources for your child to access anytime, anywhere: Lexia (Literacy),
Kahn Academy (Math, Social Studies, Science, Literacy), ST Math (Math without language),XtraMath.org*Reminders:- Absence notes must be submitted within 3 days of the absence
- Please make it a daily practice to have your child complete his/her homework. This is the best way for you to be involved in your child's education, know what he/she is learning and show that you are invested in his/her academic success.
- Read with your child EVERY DAY! There is a direct correlation between your child's 3rd grade reading level and his/her high school academic achievement. Let's build a foundation for future success. Time with your child is the best investment you will ever make!
