• Bulldog Busses

McDonald Elementary School values the importance of a safe, respectful bus ride to and from school.  In the spirit of those beliefs, we have created the Bulldog Busses program.  The goal of the Bulldog Bus award is to provide a positive approach to behavior on and expectations for the school bus. Each morning, upon arrival at McDonald Elementary, a teacher on duty will approach each driver as s/he opens the bus door.  The driver will indicate to the teacher at which “level” the students were for the previous afternoon’s route (Friday afternoon runs will be reported on Monday morning of the next week).  If the majority of the students are making safe, respectful choices, they will earn a “green” level for the day.  If more than half but less than the majority of students make good choices, they will earn a “yellow” level for the day.  If half or less than half of the students are not well-behaved and a lot of redirection from the driver is needed, the bus will earn a “red” level for the day.  Teachers, counselors, and administrators will board the bus to speak to students if they earn a yellow or red level.  The bus with the most “green” levels for the month will earn the Bulldog  Bus award and will be featured on our morning announcements, in the Principals’ monthly newsletter, and more!  With positive supports and appropriate redirection, the goal of the Bulldog Busses Program is to enhance appropriate behaviors on the school bus.  Together, as a team, we will be able to keep our boys and girls safe in all aspects of their school life.
