• Hello parents/guardians of 6th and 7th grade students,

Log College is considering a change regarding its 8th grade student end of year celebration for the 2019-2020 school year.  Currently, Log College hosts an awards breakfast at The Fuge for all 8th grade students.

Following conversations with the Log College staff and Home and School Association, we have decided to offer an alternative to the awards breakfast. For this reason, we have included a survey at the bottom of this page as your feedback is vital in determining our plans for next year. (The survey will close on May 7).

Awards Breakfast details (our current option):

    • Though the breakfast is optional to attend, nearly all students do.  Students who do not attend remain at school.

    • Each student is permitted to invite up to two guests.

    • The awards breakfast is held during the morning of a June school/work day and lasts about three hours.

    • Parents/Guardians sit with their children.  Seating is assigned by school personnel.

    • A buffet breakfast is served.

    • Various teachers present awards (Most students will not receive an award).

    • This year, the cost of the breakfast was $17 per person ($51 for a student with two guests).  The cost is expected to increase next year.

    Our Awards Night Proposal:

    • This event would be optional for all students

    • Any student receiving an award, (along with his/her family) will be notified in advance.

    • Awards Night would be held one evening in June.

    • Awards Night would be free to all Log College students and their families.

    • In addition to Awards Night, Log College staff would organize an assembly during school hours in June in order to insure that all 8th grade students have an in-school opportunity to interact prior to the end of the school year.

    Our Move-up Night Proposal:

    • Awards Night - all students receiving awards would be invited to attend

    • Immediately following the Awards Night, there would be a ceremony for all students

      • After an opening address by administration, each student would have his/her name called (along with his/her 9th grade school choice) and walk on stage to commemorate his/her completion of 8th grade.
