The Concussion Management Team, Its Purpose and Protocol
The Log College Middle School Concussion Management Team (CMT) is comprised of the assistant principal, nurse, and the guidance counselors. The CMT's primary objective is to look after the well-being and safety of a child in the academic setting while making sure that their health and education remains the primary focus. The decisions of the CMT are deemed to be in the best interest of the student and the timeliness of their recovery. The team takes careful consideration to keep in mind the physical and cognitive exertion that academics and activities impart on a student when making these decisions. The CMT continuously evaluates a student's progress on a weekly basis and makes adjustments to the accommodations as needed, based on the data collected. The determination to clear the student of academic accommodations can be made by the treating physician and/or by the CMT.
