• Dear Parents,

Welcome to the 2020-2021 school year!

I cannot begin to tell you how excited I am about having the opportunity to teach your child this year.

In this Health class, students will learn how to establish healthy habits by being introduced to various health topics, mainly centered on safety, nutrition, growth and development, and the body systems. Each 45 minute class will be broken up into two segments -- we will begin with a 20-25 minute synchonous session to begin class comprised of exercises and an introduction to the mini lesson for the day, followed by a 20-25 minute asynchonous session where they will complete assignments that reinforce the day's topic on their own. While learning will take place virtually to start the year, I am a firm believer in incorporating physical activity into health class whenever possible. Students will be active learners—meaning they will be actively engaged in their learning, and at times, will learn through movement. Since students will be mobile for this class, I ask that your child wear clothing and set their device up in a safe space that allows them to move freely on the days that he or she has Health.

Assessments will be built into our lessons to gauge understanding. Results of these assessments will influence the content for upcoming lessons, because I want to make sure EVERY student grasps the day’s material before moving on to the next topic.

I am looking forward to a mutually fun and rewarding year with your child! If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact me at:
