• Dear Parents,

Welcome to the 2016-17 school year!

I cannot begin to tell you how excited I am about having the opportunity to teach your child this year.

In this Health class, students will learn how to establish healthy habits by being introduced to various health topics, mainly centered on safety, nutrition, growth and development, and the body systems. While learning will take place in the classroom, I am a firm believer in incorporating physical activity into the classroom whenever possible. Students will be active learners—meaning they will be actively engaged in their learning, and at times, will learn through movement. Since students will be mobile in this class, I ask that your child wear sneakers and clothing that allows them to move freely on the days that he or she has Health.

Although students will not receive a letter/number grade in Health class this year, assessments will be built into each lesson to gauge understanding. Results of these assessments will influence the content for upcoming lessons, because I want to make sure EVERY student grasps the day’s material before moving on to the next topic.

I am looking forward to a mutually fun and rewarding year with your child! If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact me at:
