Read Across America Readings

Tennent Voices for Change

On February 28, 2022, eighteen William Tennent High School students representing the student-created group, Voices For Change, read to fifty-seven elementary classrooms at Willow Dale, McDonald, and Davis Elementary Schools. This project celebrated the end of Black History Month and provided the start of Read Across America Week.

Students at the elementary schools enjoyed having the high school students read to them and talk with them. Of course, the high school students enjoyed the experience very much!

Thank you to the student project leader, Jacqueline Faulk, the elementary school librarians, the elementary school principals, Dr. Henrich, Mr. Ross, Ms. Cresina, Ms. Katits, and Ms. Coles for helping to organize. Many hands make light work.

Read Across America at Willow Dale

Willow Dale Elementary School celebrated Read Across America Week with many fun activities. On Monday, the students wore their favorite outfits. On Tuesday, they wore their most comfortable clothes. On Wacky Wednesday, the kids wore their clothes backward, inside out, or mismatched. On Thursday, students wore a shirt representing their favorite place, and today, students all wore their pajamas. The highlight of the week was when the WTHS students came to read to our classrooms.
