The primary function of the school counselor is to offer personalized services to each child in the building through a variety of group and individual activities. These may include classroom guidance sessions which focus on communication skills, decision making, the perception and expression of feelings, the development of self-esteem, focus groups such as Children of Divorce Club, monitoring students progress with contract books, and class meetings to promote successful growth and learning. Students are assisted in making long-and short-range plans, setting realistic goals and sorting out academic, career and social alternatives with the help of school counselors. Counseling is provided to all children in the Centennial School District. Parents are welcome to call their child's counselor at any time.
