    Mr. Ortiz

    Hello McDonald Families,

My name is Ernesto Ortiz, Jr. and I am very excited to introduce myself as the new principal at Everett A. McDonald Jr. Elementary School. I'm extremely honored to have been chosen to join the Centennial School District to lead such a wonderful elementary school. I look forward to working with all of the students, parents, and teachers as we work to achieve great things at McDonald Elementary.

I have been in the field of education for the past 16 years in the Allentown School District. I spent the first 13 years as a classroom teacher at Ritter Elementary School. At Ritter, I taught kindergarten, 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and 5th grades. For the past three years, I served as an administrator in the Allentown School District. I served as the Principal-In-Residence at Central Elementary School for one year and then as the Assistant Principal at Union Terrace for two years. Over the course of my 16 years, I have worked with a diverse group of students, parents, and stakeholders.

I earned my bachelor's degree from Kutztown University in Elementary Education in 2001. I completed my first master's degree at DeSales University in Teaching English as a Second Oral Language (TESOL) in 2011. I then completed my second master's degree at Lehigh University in Educational Leadership in 2014. My experiences as an administrator and teacher, combined with my teachings from Lehigh, DeSales, and Kutztown have prepared me to be an effective school leader.

On a personal note, my wife and I have three children ages 12, 9, and 6. We currently live in Whitehall, PA, however our goal is to move down to the Warminster area within the next year. My hobbies include working out, reading, sports, and anything that deals with technology.

If you ever have any questions or concerns, I welcome you to please speak with me in person. If you cannot come to the school, please feel free to call the school at 215-441-6157 or send me an email at ortier@centennialsd.org. Again, I'm extremely excited, honored, and proud to serve the parents and students of the McDonald community. I look forward to a great and exciting 2017-2018 school year.

    Educationally yours,

    Mr. Ernesto Ortiz, Jr.
