If you want to join Key Club, the dues and membership form are due by Monday 10/2 to Mrs. Harper in C104 or Senora Adams in C120.
If you are interested in wrestling this season, Pre-season workouts for both boys and girls will start on Tuesday October 3 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM and will be every Tuesday and Thursday till the season starts late November. If you are a returning wrestler not playing a fall sport we would like to see you attend these workouts so we get a jump on the season. This will be our first year for a formal girls team and we have a full schedule and would like to see as many girls as possible join us.
For those who submitted information to become National Honor Society Members, your applications are under review of the faculty council at this time. As explained in your invitation, You will receive notice later in October about the results. The NHS meetings set for Wednesday, October 4 and Thursday, October 5 are intended only for all those members who were already inducted. See Mrs. K-B in A117 with any questions.

The William Tennent Boys Volleyball program will be holding their first Open Gym of the year on Wednesday night from 7 - 9 PM. New players are encouraged to attend and no experience is necessary. If you have any questions about boys volleyball, please see Mr. Marchetti in room A118.

Homecoming Dance tickets will go on sale at all lunches for $25 each beginning Monday, September 18th. The Homecoming Dance will be held on Saturday night October 14th from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. All students and their guests (you can bring guests from out of school) need signed permission slips filled out to buy tickets. Permission slips are located on your grade level canvas page, and printed out copies are in room C113 with Mr. Goldsman and in room A102 with Mr. Fries.
Tickets will be sold to seniors only on Monday, September 18th, to juniors and seniors on Tuesday, September 19th, to sophomores, juniors and seniors on Wednesday, September 20th and to all grades on Thursday, September 21st and Friday, September 22nd or until we are sold out.

October is Breast cancer Awareness Month, what better way to show your school spirit than to purchase a pink out shirt for our annual homecoming game which will be held on October 13th. The cost is $10 for sizes XS - XL. 2XL will be $13. Cash only! No orders will be taken without payment. Thank you!

Seniors - If you had your pictures taken over the summer, your student ID may be available. IDs will be distributed at lunch on Monday and Tuesday, during Homecoming Ticket sales. After Tuesday, the remaining IDs will be sent to the 12th grade house office. If you did not yet get your pictures taken, your IDs will be sent to the school later in the fall, after you sit for your portraits.

CIVITAS, the Social Studies HONORS Society at William Tennent High School, is currently seeking eligible students to complete and submit applications for our HONORS Society for the 2023-2024 Academic Year!
Applications will be available outside Room C217/C218 (in the 10th Grade House) and Room A104/A105 (in the 11th Grade House). The Applications will be available starting Tuesday, 9/5/23. The Requirements for consideration for the Social Studies Honors Society, CIVITAS, are:
· 3 Credits of Social Studies Courses completed
· GPA in those courses of 3.2.
· A completed CIVITAS Application
· An endorsement of a Social Studies Teacher
Students have until TUESDAY, September 19, 2023, to submit full and complete applications in order to be considered for induction into CIVITAS.

Applications will be available outside Room C217/C218 (in the 10th Grade House) and Room A104/A105 (in the 11th Grade House). The Applications will be available starting Tuesday, 9/5/23. The Requirements for consideration for the Social Studies Honors Society, CIVITAS, are:

· GPA in those courses of 3.2.

Any student interested in joining Student Government for the 2023-24 school year can apply on the brief online application on your grade level canvas page. Students attend 1 or 2 meetings per month and must complete a minimum of 4 events during the course of the school year.
You can bring the $25 dues (which covers the cost of your Winter Ball ticket) to Mr. Goldsman in room C113 when you sign up. Cash or checks made out to William Tennent High School can be used for payment. If finances are an issue and you wish to join student government, please see Mr. Goldsman and he will work with you. No one will be turned away for financial reasons.

CIVITAS, the Social Studies HONORS Society at William Tennent High School, is currently seeking eligible students to complete and submit applications for our HONORS Society for the 2023-2024 Academic Year!
Applications will be available outside Room C217/C218 (in the 10th Grade House) and Room A104/A105 (in the 11th Grade House). The Applications will be available starting Tuesday, 9/5/23. The Requirements for consideration for the Social Studies Honors Society, CIVITAS, are:
· 3 Credits of Social Studies Courses completed
· GPA in those courses of 3.2.
· A completed CIVITAS Application
· An endorsement of a Social Studies Teacher
Students have until TUESDAY, September 19, 2023, to submit full and complete applications in order to be considered for induction into CIVITAS.
If anyone has any questions, they can contact Mr. Miller in Room C217 or Mr. Cassidy in Room C218 or Mrs. Reilly in Room C219.
Calling all artists and creatives: Any students interested in joining National Art Honor Society should see Ms. Francis in room F203 or any art teachers in the building for an application. Don’t waste time - there are certain requirements that need to be met and Application deadline is Friday, September 15.
For reasons beyond our control, the National Honors Induction Ceremony will be held on Wednesday, October 25, 2023, rather than the original date we sent candidates this summer. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.
The first student government and athletic council meeting of the school year will be held in the auditorium on Wednesday, September 13th after school in the auditorium. Anyone who has a conflict that day can come to the makeup meeting on Friday, September 15th after school in the auditorium.
If you wish to join student government, you still can! Just fill out the brief online application form on your grade level canvas page before Friday, September 15th! Over 250 people have already joined! When you fill out the application, you can drop off your $25 dues, which includes a free winter ball dance ticket, to Mr. Goldsman in room C113. You will be invited to join the student government and athletic council canvas pages once your application is received. Are you interested in photography, graphic design, communications, and getting involved in the school community? The Yearbook Club might be the perfect place for you! We will be having a yearbook interest meeting on Thursday, September 14th in room F204 with general information about joining. All are welcome- hope to see you there!
Underclassmen Picture Days will take place on Monday, September 11th and Tuesday, September 12th. Most students will get their photos taken
during their core English classes. For Juniors without an English class scheduled, you will get your photos taken during the 3rd block on either day. This is a reminder to students who received an invitation this summer to the National Honor Society, we have an informal meeting set for this Thursday, August 31, 2023, at 2:30 p.m. in the auditorium as stated in the invitation. Please feel welcome to attend, especially if you have questions. Printed copies of the Candidate Information Form are in the main office if you have not printed or created a digital copy as provided. We encourage invitees to reach out to Mrs. K-B in A117 after school hours if attending the meeting is impossible. (This meeting is not meant for current members.)
All materials for the Faculty Council to consider must be received by 3:00 p.m. by September 15. As the letter stated, an invitation does not mean automatic acceptance, but we congratulate all those who finished last year with the necessary GPA.
Do you have a passion for Fashion? The William Tennent Fashion Club will be back again this year for the 2023-2024 school year. The Fashion Club is designed for students that would like to learn more about the Fashion Industry, Styling, Design, Marketing, and be a part of our culminating event, the WTHS Fashion Show. If this sounds like something you might be interested in joining, please meet with Mrs. Slipp and the WTHS Fashion Club for an informational meeting on Thursday September 14th in room C205 at 2:30pm.
