WELCOME TO CENTENNIAL SCHOOL DISTRICT'SSPECIAL EDUCATION DEPARTMENTOur Special Education Department offers children support through effective programming. Centennial School District conducts ongoing Child Find Activities for the purpose of identifying students who may be in need of special education and/or related services. Services are designed to align with the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) and Pennsylvania State Law (Chaper14).
The District is committed to providing a continuum of special education in grades K-12 with access to the general education environment and curriculum, as appropriate. The continuum of special education includes: itinerant, supplemental, and full-time services within as Least Restrictive Environment, as possible. Services and programs are offered for children who have a disability and are determined to need specially designed instruction based on Chapter 14 eligibility categories: Autism, Emotional Disturbance, Traumatic Brain Injury, Deafness/Hearing Impairment, Specific Learning Disability,Intellectual Disability, Multiple Disabilities, Other Health Impairment, Orthopedic Impairment, Speech and Language Impairment, Blindness/Visual Impairment, and Deaf-Blindness.
