August 19, 2019 CSD eAlert

We are pleased to inform you that after closing much of William Tennent High School this weekend; we are mostly open for business as necessary. We fully expect to have our first day with teachers on August 27 and first day for students on September 3.

Currently about twenty percent of William Tennent High School is off limits.  Most of our classrooms and communal office and activity space is accessible.

Our engineering team has fully reviewed the situation. While the need for remediation may not be imminent, in the abundance of care, we elected to provide reinforcement (now) to eliminate any possible risk, and; we are actively working with the construction team to remediate the potential problem areas.  We are acting with an abundance of caution to ensure the safety of our students, faculty, staff and visitors.

We are expecting remediation to begin on Thursday, August 22 with no interruption to scheduled events for the opening of all schools as originally planned.

Please be advised that late on Friday, August 16, 2019, we discovered some structural issues affecting small portions of the building's educational sections in William Tennent High School.

William Tennent High School is currently closed. We are working with our engineering team to address this issue.

The safety and security of students, staff and faculty remains the number one priority of this Board and this Administration.

We will provide updates to the community as soon as the engineers have completed their evaluation.
