Avery Kocur Becomes the First WTHS Girls Basketball Player in 34 years to Reach 1,000 Career Points

The Girls Basketball team kept the momentum rolling last night with a 63–45 win over Springfield!

A huge congratulations to senior Avery Kocur, who, with 4:11 remaining in the game, knocked down a three-pointer to score her 1,000th career point. Kocur becomes the first William Tennent High School girls basketball player in 34 years to reach this incredible milestone.

Kocur's coach, Laura Whitney, could not be prouder: "Avery has been a starter on the Varsity basketball team since her freshman year. A three-time First Team All-League selection, she was also recognized by coaches across the division last season and named Co-MVP of the Freedom Division. Avery is the epitome of a team player—she leads by example, brings a tremendous work ethic every day, and consistently elevates those around her.

I couldn't be more prouder or happier to see Avery reach this incredible milestone.  It’s a testament to how hard she works—but even more impressive is the incredible person she is."

An unforgettable moment and a well-deserved accomplishment for a player who has put in so much work—congrats, Avery!
